Objective:
A Vision for Holistic Well-Being
Stoughton Trailers partnered with Strang, to design a forward-thinking headquarters that prioritizes business, mental, and physical health. This innovative project, set to be completed in 2025, reflects a commitment to fostering a thriving workplace while harmonizing with the natural environment.
Business Health: Streamlined Operations and Employee Development
The headquarters is meticulously designed to optimize business processes and enhance operational flow. The interior layout is strategically organized to reflect the natural progression of information and workflows critical to Stoughton Trailers’ operations. A spacious, flexible training room serves as a hub for professional development. This training facility accommodates both on-site employees and those based at Stoughton’s manufacturing plants, offering hands-on learning opportunities, leadership programs, and technical training.
Mental Health: A Restorative Connection to Nature
Nestled within an 80-acre restored prairie, the headquarters is designed as a serene oasis that promotes mental well-being. The Strang design team prioritized occupant connection to the natural surroundings. North facing floor-to-ceiling windows and thoughtfully positioned workstations provide unobstructed views of the prairie, fostering a sense of calm and reducing workplace stress. A newly constructed tranquil lake wraps around the northeast corner of the building, serving as a focal point for relaxation and reflection. The water feature enhances the aesthetic appeal and creates a soothing ambiance. The main entrance to the building is intentionally narrow and all-glass so that upon entering the building one immediately feels connected to the prairie and lake beyond.
Physical Health: Promoting Active Lifestyles
The headquarters champions physical wellness by providing accessible, high-quality facilities that encourage active living. A top-tier gym, equipped with cardio machines, strength training equipment, sports simulator, and space for group fitness classes, is available to all employees, whether they work on-site or at other Stoughton facilities. A network of walking and biking trails connects the headquarters to the broader prairie landscape, encouraging employees to engage with nature.
Sustainability and Community Impact
Stoughton Trailers’ headquarters exemplifies a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and community vitality. The restored prairie surrounding the facility enhances local biodiversity by providing habitats for native plants and wildlife while acting as a natural buffer. Energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials, and EV charging stations significantly reduce the building’s carbon footprint. Advanced solar modeling optimizes the all-glass lobby’s overhangs to minimize solar heat gain, ensuring energy efficiency. Beyond environmental efforts, the project stimulates the local economy by creating jobs and fostering partnerships with regional suppliers, reinforcing Stoughton Trailers’ role as a community partner.
A Milestone for Strang and Stoughton Trailers
The Strang team is immensely proud of this transformative project, which exemplifies the power of thoughtful design to elevate workplace culture and environmental harmony. As construction progresses toward its 2025 completion, both Stoughton Trailers and Strang eagerly anticipate the realization of this visionary headquarters—a space that will inspire, nurture, and empower employees for years to come.
