Architect I

Job Summary

The Architect I will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of project engineers, architects and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types.  Working under the direction of the project manager you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, calculations and overseeing the production of construction documents plans, details, schedules, specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • The Project Architect collaborates with the Project Manager and Principal in Charge and oversees the completion of assignments in a timely manner maintaining accuracy while adhering to all technical and standard procedures of the office.
  • Analyzes and interprets project information.
  • Coordinates and checks documents during design development, contract documents and bidding phases and compiles addendum information.
  • Interprets bid documents during the bidding phase.
  • Pre-Design graphics and renderings
  • Programming and Schematic Design
  • Construction Documents & Construction Administration
  • Quality control of all design work
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Client Care and Communication

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals and disciplines

Software Proficiencies Include:

  • Solid proficiency in BIM/Revit
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and software programs such as AutoCAD,  Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape / Virtual Reality and other project management software

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related industry
  • 5+ years of experience in the architectural industry, including design of science and technology, corporate office and higher education
  • A thorough knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
  • Professional Registration (AIA, PE, etc.) Desired
  • Desire to pursue professional certifications such as LEED, WELL and RCDD preferred, but not required

Architectural Emerging Professional I

Job Summary

The Architectural Emerging Professional I on a path to licensure will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of architects, project engineers and interior designers to develop designs, plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types.  Working under the direction of licensed professionals you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, calculations and the production of construction documents (plans, details, schedules, specifications).

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assisting on all aspects of architectural design concepts and presentations materials for commercial, higher education, science and technology projects.
  • Works with a Licensed Architect to prepare architectural construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD and BIM/Revit
  • Develops pre-design graphics and renderings
  • Construction Documents assistance
  • Quality control of work performed

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting and maintain a keen eye for design and details.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent design and graphic skills

Required Software Proficiencies Include:

  • Highly proficient user of BIM/Revit
  • Experience with Sketch Up, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite are preferred but not required

Education, Experience, Registrations:

  • Associates degree, or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related industry
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the architectural industry
  • On the path to pursue a licensure (AIA, NCARB)
  • Desire to pursue a professional certification in LEED, WELL, or RCDD an asset but not required

Mechanical Designer/Engineer I

Job Summary

The Mechanical Designer/Engineer I will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of project engineers, architects and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types.  Working under the direction of the lead engineer, you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design.  Opportunities for growth and leading mechanical design for projects is available.  

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Design and draft HVAC systems using an integrated and collaborative approach.
  • Produce mechanical drawings and specifications for all phases of design, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction/Bid Documents, Permit Documents and Construction Administration.
  • Perform load and energy calculations
  • Assist with feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, and energy modeling
  • Guide the production of construction documents (i.e. plans, details, schedules, specifications)
  • Provide construction administration for projects worked on
  • Quality control of work performed
  • Client Care and Communication

The Ideal Candidate will possess solid proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Effective people and presentation skills
  • Advanced reading, math and science skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and creation of construction documents is essential

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Solid knowledge in Revit and engineering software
  • AutoCAD- desired, but not essential
  • HVAC load calculations

Education, Experience, Registrations:

  • Associate degree
  • 5 or more years of related work experience
  • Designers License/Professional Engineers License preferred
  • Specialty certifications such as, LEED, WELL, etc. desired, but not essential

Junior Interior Designer I

Job Summary

The Junior Interior Designer I will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of interior designers, architects, and project engineers to develop designs, plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types. Working under the direction of design leads and project managers, you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, calculations and the production of construction documents (plans, details, schedules, specifications).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the lead designer in the development of interior design concepts and presentation materials for commercial, higher education, science and technology projects.
  • Develops pre-design graphics and renderings and material boards for client presentations
  • Creates, updates, and maintains furniture and finish plans and schedules in Revit.
  • Assists in the development of construction documents in adherence to the local building and accessibility codes.
  • Supports the construction administration team during construction with shop drawing review, site visits, and the development of punch lists.
  • Manage interiors library, vendor appointments, and sample requests.

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting and maintain a keen eye for design and details.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong design portfolio.

Software Proficiencies Include:

  • Solid proficiency in Revit
  • Experience with Enscape, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite are desirable

Education, Experience, Registrations:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related discipline
  • 1-2 years’ relevant interior design experience
  • Familiarity with space planning, finish selection, and furniture specification
  • Desire to pursue professional certifications such as NCIDQ, LEED, and WELL preferred, but not required
