Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of project engineers, architects, and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types including a primary focus on science and technology, higher education, corporate and cultural arts. The Senior Mechanical Engineer often serves as primary client liaison and directs the work of less experienced engineers and production staff serving as a resource and mentor. Knowledge of a wide range of mechanical systems is needed to assist clients in their choice of the most appropriate system for their needs.  The Senior Mechanical Engineer also must have a general understanding of the cost of the various systems they design as well as the sustainable attributes, maintenance requirements and ease of operation for the end user.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Informing clients of advantages and disadvantages of various systems during initial selection.
  • Establishing basis-of-design and code requirements for each project’s mechanical systems.
  • Leading mechanical system design direction, equipment selection, layout, and distribution.
  • Overseeing mechanical design development, construction documents and specification production, and construction administration.
  • Presenting mechanical designs in client meetings and to governmental authorities.
  • Team-oriented workflow, coordinating and collaborating with other engineers, architects, and project managers.

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals and disciplines.

  • Solid proficiency in Revit.
  • Knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office program suite.
  • Software programs associated with load calculations, energy analysis and system sizing.

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering degree in mechanical systems and design
  • 15 years of work experience minimum.
  • Professional Engineers License required.
  • Specialty certifications such as LEED, WELL, etc. desired.

Plumbing Designer II

Job Summary

The Plumbing Designer will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of project engineers, architects and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types.  Working under the direction of the project manager, you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from determining the appropriate plumbing system for the project, to feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, energy and load calculations and assist with construction document plans.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Principal in Charge and oversees the completion of assignments
  • Analyze and interpret project information
  • Develop specifications during the bidding phase
  • Coordinate and check documents during design development, contract documents and bidding phases and compile addendum information
  • Interpret bid documents during the design phase
  • Check shop drawings
  • Participate in meetings with clients
  • Assure projects are designed to meet plumbing codes
  • Work collaboratively with a team to ensure on-time delivery of budget and schedule
  • Develop solutions necessary for the intended design

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

  • Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals and disciplines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting and maintain a keen eye for design and details.

  • 8 or more years’ experience in the plumbing engineering industry, preferably in designing large science and technology, higher education, and corporate office projects.
  • Registered Engineer or Designers License required.
  • Specialty certifications such as LEED, WELL, etc. desired.

Project Architect

Job Summary

The Project Architect will work closely with Strang's integrated team of project engineers, architects and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types.  Working under the direction of the project manager you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, calculations and overseeing the production of construction documents plans, details, schedules, specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • The Project Architect collaborates with the Project Manager and Principal in Charge and oversees the completion of assignments in a timely manner maintaining accuracy while adhering to all technical and standard procedures of the office.
  • Analyzes and interprets project information.
  • Coordinates and checks documents during design development, contract documents and bidding phases and compiles addendum information.
  • Interprets bid documents during the bidding phase.
  • Pre-Design graphics and renderings
  • Programming and Schematic Design
  • Construction Documents & Construction Administration
  • Quality control of all design work
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Client Care and Communication

The Ideal Candidate will possess proficiency in the following general skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related industry
  • 5-10 years of experience in the architectural industry, including design of science and technology, corporate office and higher education highly desired.
  • A thorough knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
  • Professional Registration (AIA, NCRAB) Preferred
  • Desire to pursue professional certifications such as LEED, WELL and RCDD desired, but not required
