Objective:

Integrating A Community Gateway

Stoughton Trailers (STI) teamed up with Strang to plan an exciting mixed-use development to include a new state-of-the-art headquarters and large community park. Six acres of that parcel was designated for STI’s headquarters with the new building to be about 25,000 SF, with the opportunity to expand up to 40,000 SF. This project will have high visibility and community impact as it provides a gateway into the City of Stoughton. With the proposed park, incorporated city and county trail systems, and access to the lake and river, this project will serve as a catalyst to get people, especially young professionals, more interested in Stoughton and its community. The target construction completion date for the headquarters building is the end of 2024.

Stoughton Trailers’ current corporate office was built in 1965 and is growing increasingly cramped as its employees are spread across six different locations. The new headquarters will be home to about 125 employees and will provide a cutting-edge, high efficiency, innovative, and high-quality atmosphere, where employees can collaborate together under one building. While not all of Stoughton Trailer’s employees will work at the new site, they will all have access to its amenities, including exercise facilities, conference rooms, and other workspaces.

Strang provided comprehensive space planning, architecture, interior design, engineering, and consulting services for this project. Our goal wasn’t to design just another building in an industrial park, but create something special to both the company and the community. We emphasized maximizing functionality and durability, while still accounting for future growth. Strang also led and facilitated efforts related to sustainable design with a focus on energy efficiency. We worked in close collaboration with STI and the general contractor to evaluate current needs, gather input, and analyze options for the headquarters all before design began.
