MICHAEL ZHOU

Job Title: Architectural Design Specialist

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? To see the evolution of a building going from an idea to a physical entity.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Someone who worked at NASA.

Favorite animal? Wolf.

TERRY SALLEE

Job Title: Senior Technology Designer

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? I really enjoy working on teams with experts and specialists who are dedicated to providing holistic designs as opposed to a group of people who contribute only their assigned portion of a project. Everyone I have worked with is always ready to help figure out a problem or situation, almost always going the extra mile for a comprehensive solution.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? I wanted to be an Air Force fighter pilot. I would read books on world military aircraft for hours in the library and watch every show I could about flying. Even today I have great respect for the skill that it takes to be a fighter pilot and take any chance I can get to make it to the Air Force Museum in Dayton or the Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian.

Favorite animal? I really like my dogs, but I am so amazed by fireflies. I know it may sound weird, but they are harmless, gentle, benign insects that are designed to hover endlessly in the night, performing a bioluminescent light dance like stars, only right here on earth. I never tire of watching fields of them in the summer and am always blown away by their uniqueness in the world.

BILL SIMPSON

Job Title: Senior Project Manager/Architect

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? Being able to work with a client and take their visions to the next level and into reality.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Professional/Olympic mogul skier.

Favorite animal? I love to work with hunting dogs and to watch the amazing abilities that they have.

CARL BERRY

Job Title: Architectural Design Specialist

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? Recently, I have had the opportunity to work on projects in both early and late phases. Not only has this kept things interesting but it has also reminded me to think about Schematic Design in Construction Development and vice versa —  rapid evolution versus steady fine-tuning. I am thankful for this perspective and the people I have gotten to work with and learn from!

What did you want to be when you were a kid? I wanted to be a lot of things. A racecar driver is one example. I also sold my parent’s shoes back to them in an ad hoc shoe store I set up in my bedroom.

Favorite animal? If I had to narrow it down to just one, I would probably have to go with mountain goats. I’ve run into them hiking and they are impressive but are also not likely to eat me.

DIANE RHODE

Job Title: Plumbing BIM Technician

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? Working with such a great group of people!

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Architect.

Favorite animal? Miniature chihuahua.

BRIAN K. TYM (AKA PHOENIX)

Job Title: Senior Plumbing Engineer

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? I get to work from home.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Navy fighter pilot.

Favorite animal? White tigers.

FAREED JAVID

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? Even though architects build the buildings, we (engineers) make them comfortable and habitable by providing heating and cooling.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Many things, but here are a few: actor, doctor, cop, ice cream truck man, etc…

Favorite animal? Cat.

JOE PAUTSCH

Job Title: Architectural Design Specialist

What’s your favorite aspect of your current job? Seeing clients move in and experience the space that we’ve designed.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Sportscaster.
