Interior Designer

We are seeking a full-time interior designer for our Waukesha office. Qualified applicants must have a professional degree from an interior design program and have strong proficiency in Revit. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite are desirable. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads and develops interior design concepts for commercial, higher education, science and technology projects

  • Develops and coordinates presentation materials with design team and leads design presentations with clients as required

  • Detailed coordination with Project Managers, Architects and in-house Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers

  • Technical coordination of drawings and details in adherence to the local building code and accessibility guidelines

  • Coordinates with Construction Administration team during construction to include submittal and shop drawing review, site visits with detailed field reports, and completing an interiors punch list

  • Participation in project interviews and marketing events in the Milwaukee and Madison region

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in interior design

  • 6-8 years of experience in all phases of a project including programming, schematic design, design development, and construction documents

  • Strong proficiency in Revit

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Skilled at space planning, finish selection, furniture specification, furniture cost estimating, and millwork detailing

  • NCIDQ required

  • Flexibility to travel to the Madison office for client and team coordination meetings as required

Plumbing Engineer - Registered

As plumbing engineer, you will be responsible for designing plumbing systems for a wide range of complex and highly technical projects. You will work collaboratively with clients and the Strang project team to determine the appropriate plumbing system for the project, feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, energy and load calculations and assist with construction administration follow-through. You will also conduct quality reviews of projects during key phases of development.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Principal In Charge and oversees the completion of assignments quickly, maintaining accuracy while adhering to all technical and standard procedures of the office

  • Analyze and interpret project information

  • Develop specifications during the bidding phase

  • Coordinate and check documents during design development, contract documents and bidding phases and compile addendum information

  • Interpret bid documents during the design phase

  • Check shop drawings

  • Participate in meetings with clients

  • Assure projects are designed to meet plumbing codes

  • Work collaboratively with a team to ensure on-time delivery of budget and schedule

  • Develop solutions necessary for the intended design

Qualifications

  • 10 + years experience in the plumbing engineering industry

  • 5 + years experience as a Registered Engineer or Designer

  • Experience in successfully designing a wide range of complex and highly technical projects

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of plumbing codes, plumbing systems and construction detailing

  • Experience in designing large science & technology, higher education, corporate office, performing arts and LEED projects

  • BIM/Revit experience (preferred)

Project Manager

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for effectively leading large, complex, and highly technical projects across multiple sectors. Our wide range of projects provides an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of innovative building systems. Typical projects are challenging and engineering-intensive, permitting the opportunity to collaborate with clients and discover the most ideal pathways to success. This role will report to one of three firm Principals.

  • Ensure budget and schedule adherence with design integrity throughout projects

  • Become the respected voice of leadership among clients and colleagues alike

  • Lead required meetings with a project team

  • Participate in presentations to clients

  • Travel three to four days per month with occasional overnights as projects require

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as an Architect/Project Manager

Senior Project Manager / lab planner

As Senior Project Manager / Lab Planner, you will be responsible for effectively leading large, complex, and highly technical projects across multiple sectors. Senior Construction Administrator

We are seeing a full-time Senior Construction Administrator with 15 or more years of experience for our Madison office. Qualified applicants must have a degree in Construction Administration or Architecture and have successfully administered the construction contracts for dozens of larger, complex and highly technical projects. A thorough knowledge of building codes, contracts and construction detailing is required. Experience managing Science & Technology, Higher Education, Commercial and Governmental projects is preferred.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the contractors’ progress and keep the progress posted on a schedule in the architect’s office

  • Observe the construction of each project assigned and make a deduction as to whether the materials and installation conform to the plans and specifications

  • Check for errors or elements overlooked in the final plans and specifications and see to their early correction

  • Make period reports on the progress of the work so that the Owner, Contractor and Architectural/Engineering team are kept informed as to the status of the work

  • Review contracts, insurance certificates, schedules of value for payment, subcontractors and conditions of the contract

  • Interpret the contract documents in conjunction with contractor requests for information

  • Prepare Change Orders for changes in the work

  • Verify that shop drawings and samples are logged and reviewed

  • Close out the project in accordance with the project contract

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Construction Administration or Architecture

  • Fifteen or more years of experience including administering construction contractors for dozens of larger, complex and highly technical projects

  • A thorough knowledge of building codes, contracts and construction detailing

  • Experience managing Science & Technology, Higher Education, Commercial and Governmental projects is preferred

  • AIA registration is preferred

  • AIA registration (preferred)

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; Bluebeam and BIM/Revit experience is beneficial

  • Excellent communication skills

Project Architect

Strang is seeking experienced architects to join us in our Madison or Milwaukee offices. This position will work on a variety of necessary tasks related to the design of science and technology, corporate office, higher education and performing arts projects. The selected architect(s) will collaborate closely in a team setting which will include professionals in architecture, engineering and interior design.
