Ceremony Marks Project Milestone. It’s always a good idea to celebrate success during a project instead of waiting until the end. Gathering our team together during a milestone allows the group to enjoy their accomplishments to date and reinvigorates them for the next steps toward completion.
There’s something very exciting about designing, developing and constructing a new building. Anticipation builds as dreams develop into ideas and plans take shape into walls and floors. Along the way there are landmarks to celebrate: the groundbreaking, placing of the cornerstone and the ribbon cutting. This week, at the site of the new Summit Credit Union Headquarters in Cottage Grove, Strang took part in a beam signing ceremony.

This ceremonial beam represents the completion of the basic structure of the building – the skeleton, if you will. With the framework complete, interior partitions can be put in place and all other interior construction can begin. It’s a significant milestone in the process.

Gathering to sign the beam allows the project team to celebrate everything they’ve been through together and all they’ve accomplished so far. For more than a year, the owner’s representative, architects, engineers, interior designers and contractors have held meetings, met deadlines, made site visits and more. They’ve worked through myriad challenges on their way to this point in the project.

The ceremony also reinvigorates the team’s sense of purpose to finish the project. This six-story, 157,700-SF building – a signature development located at a prominent gateway to the Cottage Grove community – is expected to be completed next spring.

Our friends at Summit are eagerly anticipating the day it opens. But for now, the team continues to move forward, excited about each accomplishment along the way and working hard to make sure the result of their work not only meets but exceeds their dreams.
